Orange Conservatorium + Planetarium

The proposed Regional Conservatorium and Planetarium is set to be the next addition to Orange’s Civic Centre Precinct. It is Comprised of 3 main areas: a Conservatorium of Music, a main Recital Hall, and a Planetarium, the new facility will become a new destination venue for both education and musical performances in Orange. The proposed Conservatorium includes of 30 practice studios to provided one-to-one tutorship across the musical spectrum. Further ensemble and studio spaces add to the collegiate feel of the school. The design also includes a library with archive and study spaces and a landscaped internal courtyard. The 250 seat Recital Hall is designed to be a key space for local and regional performances as well as an important practice venue for the Conservatorium. The design includes full front and back of house facilities so that the Conservatorium/ Recital Hall will offer a complete venue for a wide range of performances. The main foyer is served by a cafe/bar and has flexibility to host other private events when required. Full changing and preparation rooms have been included allowing for the smooth operation of performances. The Planetarium includes an 80 seat auditorium located beneath an 11m projection dome. The venue uses the latest in digital projection to present various aspects of the solar system and offers a unique experience to local and visiting school groups.
