University of Otago's new Dental Hospital

Jul 2022

BHA were engaged in partnership with Jazmax NZ, to design the Redevelopment of existing School of Dentistry Building for a new Medical and Dental building. The new facilities for the University of Otago's Faculty of Dentistry provides a national centre of excellence for teaching and research in dentistry. The project improves and expands existing clinical facilities and teaching capacity, while offering the community increased access to high quality dental care. The University of Otago / Te Whare Wananga o Otāgo Dental School is New Zealand’s National Centre of Dentistry. The $126m (NZ dollars) redevelopment of its facilities represents the largest and most technically complex capital works project the university has undertaken to date. A major investment in the city of Dunedin, the redevelopment demonstrates the University’s commitment to continued excellence in dental education, dental research and providing access to lower-cost dental treatment in the community. BHA have been working on the project since 2016 when they were initially engaged by the University of Otago to masterplan and design new facilities for the Faculty of Health. We are very pleased to see this state of the art facility completed and in use. Photograph by Lightforge
