This experience has given us invaluable knowledge in the design of:
• Seating types and arrangements;
• Performance and Audience acoustics;
• Fire egress requirements and their effects on layouts;
• Positioning and arrangement of sound and lighting control areas;
• Auditorium lighting and stage rigging systems;
• Relationships and arrangements of Foyers, Bars, amenities and support areas;
• Co-location with conference and meeting facilities.
The design of an auditorium is a highly complex process which involves the coordination of a large number of important technical specialities. For example, it is important to avoid large central aisles and to understand the implications of ‘Continental Seating’ layouts which otherwise might seem to be a very attractive design option.
Multipurpose Theatre Design
Many of our recent projects include large multipurpose flat floor auditoriums which work with telescopic retraceable seating to provide a range of theatrical modes. These auditoriums often have stage configurations which allow the space to work in semi-lyric mode as well as thrust and contemporary black box.Our experience will assist us to advise Council on:Selection of retractable / telescopic seating typesSeating layout and detailed designDesign parameters for multipurpose spacesStage configurationsStructural design implicationsBuilding services design implications. We have learnt from recent projects of the hidden advantages / disadvantages of the competitive suppliers of retractable telescopic seating systems.
The technical aspects of the detailed stage layouts can make the difference between a successful performance space and a ‘white elephant’.Our experience with the design of a number of theatres will allow us to advise Council regarding:The most appropriate stage types for your requirements. Town Hall and Community Meeting Facilities
Many of our recent projects have included the construction of new or substantial upgrades of town halls.We are best placed to advise Wyong Shire Council regarding:Preferred dimensions;Acoustics and reverberation;Fire egress;Provisions to allow for multipurpose use;Lighting and AV; andAccess to and requirements for support facilities.We have recently completed a number of large Town Hall projects for Castle Hill (700 seats), Albury (800 seats) and Bathurst (1200 seats) and the Concept Design for Shellharbour (900 seats). We are currently building a new Town Hall Theatre for Ashfield (500 seats). We understand how to design a multipurpose hall so that it can be successfully used for a range of purposes. Our unique Graphic Return Brief process will demonstrate important design requirements in a way your users will easily understand.
